LAWRENCE ROMANOWSKI Obituary

LAWRENCE C. "LARRY" ROMANOWSKI, 83, a longtime resident of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, in Winter Haven, Fla. Born March 5, 1934, in Barron County, Wis., he was a son of the late Stanley and Ada (Fitzgerald) Romanowski. He was raised in Fort Wayne and graduated from Central High School, then attended Indiana University in Bloomington, receiving a Master's degree. Larry was a hard and dedicated employee throughout his career, sharing most of his work experience with Parkview Hospital, and Edglo Laboratories. He was a humble man, thoughtful and caring in nature. Larry loved his family and his numerous friends dearly. He looked forward to and treasured the joyous times he shared with them. His interests included golfing and competing charitably in the Murphy Invitational, fishing, reading, listening to classical music and jazz, watching a multitude of sports, and was a loyal backer of his Indiana Hoosiers. Larry is survived by his wife, Jo Ann (Connors) Romanowski; daughters, Lori (Robert) Mapes, Loni Ross, Lisa (Doug) Heimann, and Leslie (Phil) Latta; son, Larry E. (Rena) Romanowski; stepchildren, Moffie (Charles) Hicks, Ed (Tracy) McMahan and Tom (Kelly) McMahan; 10 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Don (Glee) Romanowski and Ernie (Marty) Romanowski; sister, Barbara Romanowski; along with a host of other beloved family members. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 37 years, Gloria Mae (Ahlersmeyer) Romanowski; brothers, Harold and Gerald Romanowski; son-in-law, Jeff Ross; and great-grandson, Cain Franklin. No services are planned. Preferred memorials to the George C. Forsythe Hospice House, 105 Arneson Ave., Auburndale, FL 33823.
