It was with great sadness that I recently learned of Mary's passing from a coworker. I first meet Mary when we both worked together in the Admissions Office at The Ohio State University in 1988. We later both worked directly together in the OSU Financial Aid Office from 1993 through her retirement several years ago. Having worked in the same office/area for most of the time I knew Mary, I gained a tremendous amount of admiration for her professionalism, in-depth knowledge, and expertise regarding her job, and most of all, her ability to put people at ease in most every situation. She possess a great deal of empathy and compassion for her coworkers all of the time especially when people she knew were going through difficult times in their lives. Also, I fondly remember her humor, intellect, and passion for Liberal causes especially related to social and societal issues. She was a real joy to be around and her dedication and love for her family and friends were evident from how she fondly expressed that in her words and actions. I continued to reliably receive birthday and Christmas cards from her long after she left OSU and Columbus, Ohio. I will always keep with me many a fond memories that I shared with her and other people we mutually knew over the many yearsI feel that I was blessed to have known such a remarkable woman. I give my deepest sympathies and support to her family during this very difficult time; however, know that she was a caring and special person who will be missed by many people who were truly lucky to have known her and the many lives she touched in a beautiful way.
