MICHAEL OETTING Obituary

MICHAEL EUGENE OETTING, 73, of Fort Wayne, passed away Monday, March 28, 2022, after a long hard-fought battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He went on to heaven from his home he loved surrounded by his family. A lifetime area resident, he was born on Dec. 23, 1948 and was a son of the late Eugene and Corinne (nee Kintz) Oetting. One of Mike's greatest achievements was being the proud owner of Indigo Printing & Graphics for 30 years. He was a simple man, a man with a heart of gold, so stubborn but yet so kind. Michael's love was his business, his wife and his family. He was a Catholic man, a strong believer in faith. Michael loved Notre Dame football and the Chicago Cubs. He loved the holidays, a true giver with the biggest heart and one of the nicest people anyone could meet. "We were the lucky ones, and we will miss him dearly as life will never be the same without him, but we have peace that he is in the loving arms of God without any more pain or suffering. He put up a good fight, for this disease he was so afraid of, but he fought hard to the very end. Just the type of man he was. Farewell, until we meet again." He left behind the love of his life of 52 years, Linda Marie (nee Taggart) Oetting, a true love story. He is also survived by his two daughters, Roxanne Oetting of Fort Wayne and Shanda (Robert) Egierski of Granger, Ind.; six grandchildren, Brianna (Nick) Potts, Miranda, Savanna (Alex Straessle), Jaydon Egierski, Tyler Egierski, and Nic Egierski; brothers, Pat (Diane) Oetting, Dave (Joy) Oetting and Steve (Kim) Oetting; and sisters, Martha (Steve) Irwin, Marita (Ron) Lauer, Roberta Firestine, and Paula (Jeff) Leitch. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2022, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2022, at FairHaven Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton St., with a Rosary service at 4 p.m. Burial at Catholic Cemetery. I'm so sad to learn of Mike's passing. My husband and I worked in the printing trade with Mike for 25 years. He was more than a colleague. He was a very dear friend. When I needed work he always had something for me. Mike was one of the most kind, caring and compassionate men I knew. I will miss his smile, his laughs and his jokes! My heart breaks for all who knew him because he will be greatly missed. RIP Mike and I hope you know how much we cared about you!

Linda Marie, Goodbyes are not forever, nor are they the end. They simply mean we'll miss you. Until we meet again, Mike Oetting, heaven is forever. Sympathy for the loss of your husband.
