RICHARD FEDERSPIEL Obituary

RICHARD L. FEDERSPIEL, 88, of Angola, formerly of New Haven, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, at the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, South Bend. Born in New Haven, he was the son of the late Eugene and Bernadine Federspiel. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Angola and American Legion Post 330. After serving his country in the U.S. Navy Air Corps during World War II, he returned home to operate the Federspiel Blacksmith Shop in New Haven. In 1984, he retired from B.F. Goodrich after 24 years of service. He is survived by his children, Dr. Richard (Billie) Federspiel of Niles, Mich. and Ann (Rod) Taylor of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Erin, Courtney, Jon, Brian, Andrew, Hilary and Erika; three great grandchildren; and special friend, Alyce Urbine. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Pat, in 2003; two sisters; and one brother. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers Street, New Haven, with calling one hour prior at the church. Father James Seculoff officiating. Calling also from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Road 930 E., New Haven, with Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Ct., South Bend, IN 46637.
