ROBERT E. "BOB" DOELLING Sr.

ROBERT E. "BOB" DOELLING SR., 89, of Fort Wayne, Ind. died Thursday, March 23, 2017. He was the son of the late Ernest H. and Anna B. Doelling. He graduated from North Side High School in 1946 and then attended Purdue Extension in Fort Wayne. He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the early stages of the war with the Third Infantry Division from 1950 through 1952. Returning from the service, he entered the General Electric Co. Apprentice Program and graduated in 1955. He graduated from the GE Manufacturing Management Program in 1958. From 1958 to 1988, Bob had numerous assignments in manufacturing engineering and manufacturing management positions in GE's small motor operations. He retired with 38 years of service. After retirement he did consulting on several manufacturing projects with firms in the area.Bob was a devoted husband and father. When he wasn't working his greatest happiness was being with his family. He always said his greatest gift was his loving, caring wife, Mary Ann. He loved to play golf with family and friends and dearly loved his two grandchildren, Evan and Caroline. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Ann; son, Robert Jr. (Elizabeth Anne); grandchildren, Evan and Caroline; and sister, Mildred Shock. A daughter, Diane Kay Doelling, preceded him in death in 2005. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 29th, 2017 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Road, Fort Wayne (IN 46815) with visitation one hour prior to his service.
