Dear Herber Family,
I had the honor of playing football for Coach at Dwenger in the mid 70's. A great man, coach, teacher, role model with a tremendous sense of humor. I smile remembering his humorous motivating stories while on one knee after practices. I am terribly saddened by his passing and extend my deepest sympanthies. We will all miss Coach.

Dear Herber family,
I was deeply saddened to learn late last week of Mr. Herber's sudden passing. He hired me in my first teaching position in 2005. He always kept the students at the front of each decision he made for the school. I so much appreciated the opportunity to work with him for the school year. I am keeping the Herber family in my thoughts and prayers.

Mr. Herber was my 8th grade teacher, back in 1969/1970. We loved him and I have vivid, fond memories of Mr. Herber and his teaching style. The school was Queen of Angels; I think we were his first teaching gig.

Dear Herber Family: I just heard of Bob's passing and wanted to send my deepest sympathy. I have such good memories of the times I spent with his sisters and him "back on the farm", when he was little. May your memories bring you much comfort.

Claudia-
One thing we knew about Bob, was that he adored you. All of us are deeply saddened by his sudden passing and feel that he touched us all. We could never imagine your grief, but know that we are thinking of you, Janelle and Breck and the grandkids. His passing is an unexpected burden to bear, even so, we are sure that he is watching over you with lots of love.

Dear Family,
I had the honor of playing for Coach at Bishop Dwenger his last season as head coach of Dwenger Mens Basketball. The lessons and principles he instilled in me help shape who I am today and have made me successfull. He helped me realize that no matter how hard it gets or when you think you have given it your all, you can still find something deep inside to "Take It To The Limit". I will always remeber Coach. Thank you all for sharing him with so many..... God Bless you all.

To the family of Mr. Herber, I was a student at heritage jr/sr high school from 1992 through 1996 and Mr. Herber was the principal there and I can't express how much guidance and nurturing he supplied to me and many others. He was superb at what he did and I thank him for most of my success today because he had a major roll in making me the man I am. Thanks for all the support Mr. Herber, you will be missed.

Mr. Herber recently called our parish, St. Mary's, Ft. Wayne, to advocate on behalf of a family from his school who needed financial assistance to attend Bishop Luers this Fall. We granted his request knowing that Bob had always done his homework and knew personally what his students needed. I was always struck by Bob's earnest devotion to help families afford Catholic Education. Bob was a man who loved his Lord and was thrilled to be back in the Catholic School system handing on the faith. We have lost a gentle giant!

Coach Herber was my basketball coach at Bishop Dwenger. He was also one of the most influential people in my life growing up. He believed in me when noone else did and for that I will be forever grateful.

Dear Claudia, Janelle, Breck and Family, Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Bob was a big man in stature and even bigger in generosity, kindness, and character. He loved his family and friends with a passionate intensity. His incredible sense of humor has touched all who knew him. His visits to AZ brought hilarity to our new home. A peaceful memory is how he would rise early and go out alone and quietly enjoy the Arizona sunrise. We find comfort in imagining him surrounded by the peace he found in animals and in Nature. He will always have a special place in our hearts.

Mrs. Herber and Family,
Mr Herber was a great principal. We were very upset to hear the news. Maddie is only in the 1st grade at St Joseph HC but she enjoyed seeing and talking to Mr Herber. He worked very hard for our school and he will be missed. May your memories comfort you during this very sad time.

Claudia,
I heard about your husband's passing tonight. My son went to preschool at St. Joe during the 2006-2007 school year. He enjoyed Mr. Herber very much and would speak of him daily. My heart goes out to you and your family. I understand how hard it is to experience such a shock like this. My family is also experiencing the same pain as we recently lost our daughter unexpectedly. I just wanted to let you know that from one family to another we will be praying for you guys. God will get you through this.

Claudia & family,
I first met Bob at the dentist office I worked at. Having children at St. Joseph I feel we were very blessed to have him in our school. I appreciate everything he taught my children and the great example he displayed as a catholic. Each time I was able to attend a weekday mass, he was there. You could tell that his family was very important to him. Anytime I spoke with him personally, he would mention his family or grandchildren. I last saw him at the Hoagland Days parade walking back from the end of it with his two precious grandchildren in tow. He will be greatly missed! My deepest sympathies to you all!!

Dear Herber Family,
Dean Herber touched my life. He was a wonderful man and teacher. I was blessed to see him throughout my teaching career to let him know what he meant to me. He was one of the reasons I went into Caotholic education. May he be with the angels. May God bless his family,

I have several great memories of Coach Herber. He always cared about us, and would not hesitate to set up straight when we needed it. I remember his passion as far back as 1973, when he spoke at the St. Charles Annual Athletic Banquet about making a game out of everything you do, challenging yourself, even if it was just washing dishes. He was great to work with at Dwenger when we were creating a first class weight lifting room for the first time. Am imposing figure and a great man, I am very, very sad to hear of his passing. God bless you coach.

My deepest condolences to the Herber family. I had not seen Mr. Herber since my senior year at New Haven High School in 1987. I always admired him. He stood up for what he believed in and always made sure that the students knew he cared. My prayers are with all of you.

Coach Herber was a great inspiration to me when I was a young man at Bishop Dwenger. His leadership as a teacher and football coach gave me life long lessons that are with me to this day. I often think and laugh in rememberance of his motivational speeches he gave before games. His teachings in my high school life has truly left me a stronger and better person. The time we shared in football left me with many treasured memories. Coach Herber was a good man. The news of his loss saddens me.
My deepest sympathies to the family.
