I always wondered if Aunt Bing ever told Uncle Bob that she ran the Impala onto the beach, on purpose no less, at Hamilton Lake, while he was out of town, and got it stuck in the sand. She walked back home, got the pick-up, brought it down to the beach and we pulled it out. It was after dark too. That meant there were two vehicles and only one licensed driver. Well guess who learned to drive a stick shift all by herself. ME! I was so nervous, and it was so hard to take off by going up a hill. I killed it three times, after that I peeled out while pulling out onto the main road. We laughed and laughed til we had tears after we got back home. To my knowledge she never told him about that, at least not right away, not sure if she ever did.
When Sabrina was born, he said that name was too hard to say. So he came up with his own name for her, it was much easier for him to say and remember. From then on he called her "Sam".
Uncle Bob was the only person who ever serenaded me with beautiful organ and/or piano music while I was cleaning their home. And could he ever make those ivorys hum!!!
I was one who was fortunate enough to see the "marshmallow inside his crusty outer shell". He will be missed my many nieces and nephews.

"Uncle Bob" What a HUGE Heart of GOLD he had, hidden behind that tall, seemingly gruff exterior. Always ready with a joke or two, (sometimes risque'). And man-oh-man could he play the piano and organ. Ever the great storyteller, stemming from his "millions" of miles on the road as a trucker.
I remember right after we were married and we had moved to Florida, Uncle Bob and Aunt "Bing" came to visit us. They were going to take us out to dinner, because, as the story goes, all we've been eating since we got married was macaroni and cheese (out of the box), and they wanted to treat us to something nice. Well, Uncle Bob had a white t-shirt on and I asked, "are you going to wear just that shirt out to eat?" He said, "yeah, but its a NEW shirt!"
Always ready to make you laugh.
He'll be missed by all who knew him, I'm sure.
