Knowing Susan from the day she was born until the day she went to her heavenly home has been a joy! Being a nursing grad from the same school of nursing, it was great to follow her progress in the health care field! A great nurse from a great family--that was Susan! God's blessings to all of us-her family and friends!

My prayers are with everyone who was blessed to know Sue. She was my Peds clinical instructor at St. Francis and she was the best! I learned a lot personally and professionally from her and she always enjoyed me telling her stories about my daughter! Rest in Peace Sue!!

Louise and family, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your Sue. She was a very dear friend of mine since we lived in the Virginia Beach area together and I had the greatest privilege to be her spiritual "discipler" in those days. For many years she took her vacation time to visit me and we spent many wonderful days touring all the areas in every new place I moved. We got to reminisce about some of these on my last precious phone call with her and she remembered them all! She took in my children like her own and was the truest of friends - always giving and caring. She loved her family so much and kept me up with all their news and pictures - Charles the last time I talked to Sue she asked me to pray specifically for you and I will. Louise, you cared for her so well and I am so very glad we had time together at NIH. My family and I will miss all that was special about Sue, but we know she fought the fight well and knew and loved Christ and is with Him now in perfect rest and joy. We rejoice at the real hope of being with her again.

Dear Louise, Elmer, Steve, Jim, and all of your family members and friends,
We check the obituaries each day as listed in the News Sentinel and came across Susan's yesterday.
We remember her with great fondness as she was a very positive person. Whenever she worshipped with us at Emmanuel, we always had a neat little visit with her. Her very positive attitude is what we remember most about her .
We do share our sympathy with all of you as you are experiencing an emptiness within your hearts today because of her leaving earth to be with the Lord and also with the many family and friends who are already in heaven. Please permit yourselves to shed tears unabashedly at this time. Jesus, too, wept at the death of His friend, Lazarus. Shedding those tears will help to lighten the pressure within your hearts as you deal with Susan's departure. We also know, that at the same time we yearn her absence, we will be reunited with her when each one of us transfers from earth to heaven upon God's call. What a tremendous comfort of knowing that fact is for you and for us. PTL.
With great love we share this guest book entry with you,
Dick and Ruth

Sue was my first and of my favorite nursing instructors. Her professional standards and compassion helped shape my own nursing practice. I am truly blessed to have been trained by such a wonderful nurse. My prayers go out to her family and Gracie-both of whom she treasured dearly.

It was with great sadness to hear of Sue's passing. She was my clinical instructor and a great support to me with my studies. Her kindness and giving spirit made her stand out. She touched many lives. God is surely blessed to receive such an angel. Class of 94.

I did not know Sue well but she was a dear and cherished friend of my sister Darla Purl who died last year of cancer. She spoke very highly of Sue and her strength and caring. My heart goes out to her family. They are in my prayers.

I am saddened to learn of Sue's passing. I was privileged to have Sue as a clinical instructor at Lutheran School of Nursing. She was such a loving, caring, beautiful individual. She was truly a role model for all that she taught and our profession was all the better with her in it.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family in their time of mourning.
