Sylvia Syfert Obituary

Sylvia H. Syfert, 91, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2023, She was born in Chicago on June 24, 1932, the daughter of the late Clarence and Marie (Saiger) Swiontek. Sylvia was a kind, loving soul who always placed the needs of others ahead of her own. She was a great teacher of life and selflessness; she enjoyed travel, golf, cooking and classical music. Sylvia truly cherished the time she spent with her family; she attended her grandchildren's games and supported their artistic endeavors; she rarely missed an event. She is survived by her sons, Alan (Catherine) Syfert of Bloomington IN; Steve (Darci) Syfert of Palm Springs CA and Jon (Janet) Syfert of Somerset MI; her grandchildren, Sarah (Mathew) Benz, Sean Syfert, Jessica Syfert Berndt, Christine (Andrew Aluko) Syfert Berndt and her great-grandson, Mason Syfert. She is also survived by her brother, Mike Swiontek of Chicago and her sister, Odessa Swan of Seattle WA. Sylvia was preceded in death by Gene Syfert, her husband of 69 years, and 5 of her 7 siblings. There are no services currently scheduled. Arrangements were through Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. The family's preferred memorial is Neighbor Link of Fort Wayne, online at neighborlink.org or by mail to 2826 S.
