Theresa M. Machlan

THERESA M. MACHLAN, 78, of Fort Wayne, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, at her daughter's residence. Born Sept. 17, 1930, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the Director of Technical Services for the American Red Cross, retiring after 18 years of service in July of 1987. Prior to that, she had worked in the lab at Lutheran Hospital for 20 years. She was a member of Human Powered Vehicle Association (HPVA), and Harvest Fellowship Church, Leo; she graduated from St. Francis College in 1952; and volunteered in the tax program at AARP. Surviving are her children, Louis George (Margaret) Machlan and Rosemarie A. (Ken) Strothman, both of Fort Wayne, and Michael C. (Sharon) Machlan of Elkhart; granddaughter, Andrea R. Machlan of Fort Wayne; brother, Edwood (Mary) Scholtz of De Bary, Fla.; and friend, Joseph L. Brooks of Fort Wayne. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday at Harvest Fellowship Church, 12255 Grabill Road, Leo, with a reception to follow. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Wayne Street Chapel, 420 W.
