WILLI BREUNING Obituary

WILLI BREUNING, 88, of Fort Wayne, Ind., passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023. He was born in Ravens -burg, Germany to the late Wilhelm and Carolina Breuning as the oldest of four children. Willi came to America in 1956 with a goal to earn enough money to buy a Volkswagen and go back home. Instead, he stayed and made a life with his wife, Alice and two children. Willi served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash. during the Berlin Crisis. In his early years Willi was active in the Fort Wayne Mannerchor and Fort Wayne Sport Club. Willi's dream to own his own tool and die shop was realized in 1979 with the creation of MRS International, a company that specialized in the design and production of electric motor stator winding equipment. Willi held several patents for electric motor design. His business travels generated hundreds of friends all over the world and ensured regular visits to his beloved Schwabisch homeland. Willi and Ilene enjoyed their second home in the Smoky Mountains because it was reminiscent of his hometown in Schwabisch Alb. Willi will be missed by his family and all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Ilene Breuning; son, Tim (Beth) Breuning; daughter, Christine (Perry) Morgan; step-daughter, Nicole (Rob) Hines; two grandchildren; sister, Ursula Boss; and three nieces and one nephew. Willi was also preceded in death by siblings, Wolfgang Breuning and Gertrude Jager; and daughter-in-law, Terita Breuning. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date. As a childhood friend with Willi´s daughter Christine and a neighbor from across the street, I had the pleasure of knowing Mr Breuning when I was a little girl. I remember many days spent at the Breuning home on Huth Dr where Mr Breuning made me laugh with his jokes and huge smile. May he rest in peace and may his family find peace with their memories.

Knowing you by way of my husband, Tom (RIP) for some 23 years, Willi was one of a kind and thought so fondly of, by us both. A great guy, good boss, and with a sense of humor like no other. ~
