Christopher Siebach Obituary

SUMMERVILLE, Pa. - Christopher Robin Siebach, age 63, of Moore Road in Summerville, Pa., died on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, of Multiple System Atrophy, in Brookville, Pa. Chris was the firstborn to Ralph and Muriel (Young) Siebach in Gloversville, N.Y., on September 16, 1954.

Chris left the US Air Force as a Captain when Pease Air Force Base in New Hampshire closed. He fondly remembered the thrill of piloting at Mach 1.5 flying at only hundreds of feet above the earth in his favorite aircraft, the FB-111. After attending graduate school at Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah, Chris and his family re-settled in the Seacoast area of New Hampshire. He made many friends who were drawn to his work ethic and his sharp sense of humor. Chris could always make you laugh, even, and especially, at inappropriate times.

He was a hard worker who was always looking for opportunities to serve. He made sure his children knew how important this was to him – they "fondly" remember him putting them to work around the house early on Saturday mornings; oftentimes using the vacuum or the mower as a wake-up call.

Chris and his wife Susan settled in Brookville, Pa., to grow old with his parents. Disease stole that opportunity, and the caregiver became the cared-for. He was always looking for opportunities to serve others. As his final act of service, Chris donated his brain for medical study.

A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served a two year mission in Central America in the mid-70s and continued to serve God through his church as a teacher, minister, and leader until his passing.

Chris is survived by his wife of 36 years, Susan (Oftedahl) Siebach; his mother Muriel; his four children, Christopher Michael (Shauna) Siebach, Hannah (Garrett) Woodbury, Emma (John) Butler, and Molly (Jon) Knight; brothers, James Siebach, Jeffrey (Kathy) Siebach, Benjamin (Tasha) Siebach; sisters, Linda (Dick) Hartung and Jennifer (Gordon) Haight; and 12 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father Ralph, brother Michael, and daughter Audrey.

SERVICES: A viewing will take place on Saturday, September 1, 2018, from 10-11 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, corner of Route 36 and Maplevale Rd., Brookville, PA, 15825. A funeral service with military honors will begin immediately following that viewing, beginning at 11 a.m., and officiated by Bishop Bryan Neal. Final interment will take place at Westview Cemetery, Clover Twp., Jefferson Co., Pa. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the McKinney – d'Argy Funeral Home, Main St., Brookville, PA. Online condolences and other information may be found at www.mckinneydargy.com.

Those who want to memorialize Chris may donate to the Redbank Valley Trail Association. Chris and his father Ralph spent time working at each other's side to maintain and improve the section of the trail that ran through their homestead. Please extend a hand of kindness and service to someone around you.

I just learned of Chris passing today from a former co-worker. I worked with Chris at PC Connection in the early 2000's. He definitely always had a positive impact on all of those around him. I often think of the situations that Chris always made more bearable through his wit and wisdom. So sorry to hear.

Sadness filled my soul and lingers. The world of friends will miss him. I learned of his passing and now seek to visit his monument, for it was Chris Seibach who presented me with a monumental task. In 1995, Chris popped around the Somersworth ward bounties and presented each family with a first printing of the The Family: A Proclamation to the world. It was not the piece of paper, but the Spirit of God he brought to our front door, even an eternal call to action. The Lord was with him and lingered longer to instruct the future of my life. I am indebted to Brother Seibach for his obedience and diligence with our Savior's work. That simple act gave purpose, meaning a d commitment for all the Families of our world.
It was Chris Seibach that had a hand in my conversion to the gospel of Jesus Christ in the restores church. I was in and out of the spirit. The world clouded my view of truth and practices. On a service project, to wash the walls of a local school during the summer holiday, I was overwhelmed, even paralyzed emotional injuries and social traumas. He gave me a blessing. I learned God's will for not only myself through his words, but of truth and righteousness. I knew the priesthood was real and active through Chris's blessing powers. I believe the Lord was grooming a patriarch, and I knew it was true. Chris was a man of God, and a great example to all who knew him.
Though in my heart I feel his absence, One day I will, again, shake his hand among all the great ones who love God and family for the cause of peace and freedom.

One of the best people I ever. Enjoyed every minute I spent with him - church, basketball, whatever. Always brought a smile and made you smile too.
