David Gagne Obituary

STOW, Mass. - David P. Gagne, 60, of Stow, Massachusetts, died Thursday, November 30, 2017. Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, on January 14, 1957, he was the son of the late Albert "Pete" and Margaret (Minot) Gagne.

David is survived by his loving companion, Joyce Welsh of Stow, Massachusetts; son Jonathan and his wife, Kristy of Freeport, Maine; daughter Melissa and her husband, Sander Falzone of Barrington, New Hampshire; mother, Margaret of Attleboro, Mass.; sister Karen and her husband, Tom Guard, and her son, Ian Graf of North Attleboro, Mass. He was a beloved "Papa Dave" to grandchildren, Emily and Avery Gagne and Evan Falzone.

David grew up in Attleboro, Mass. graduating from Attleboro High School and Massachusetts Maritime Academy, where he earned his engineering degree and excelled in basketball. The majority of his well-respected career as an expert in the field of valve engineering was spent at Baumann Control Valves in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

A longtime resident of Eliot, Maine, David enjoyed fishing, particularly on Megunticook Lake in Maine, usually with a cigar in hand. He liked craft beer and bourbon and was known to find the best kinds to deliver to his friends. David had an infectious sense of humor and could always put a smile on anyone's face, no matter how many times he told the same stories.

My thoughts and prayers to the Gagne family. Though I lost touch with Dave after High School, we were very close through our Brennan years - YMCA, Hayward Field, etc. Dave always seemed more mature than most Jr. highschoolers, and was gifted athletically and in the classroom. Great memories of our friendship while growing up in Attleboro.

My thoughts and deepest sympathy go out to his family and close friends. I worked with Dave at Baumann for many years. I remember myself, Dave and a few other guys would go out after work, find a nearby ball field and play baseball or football until it was too dark to see anything. His quick witted humor made us all laugh in the office. His presence will be missed.

Carol, Jonathan and Melissa,
When I heard the news I was in shock as I am sure all of you are. There is nothing that I can say to ease the pain you are all going through.
I know this has hit our family as well. Phillip and Alexandra always looked to David as a second Dad. All of the events and holidays and sleepovers through the years that we provided for all of you and you're group of friends have helped mold each of you into compassionate, kind and thoughtful human beings.
David was always ready to pitch in and help out with any celebration at our home over the years. I think I enjoyed watching his excitement over the kids achievements as much as I did seeing the kids happiness.
The holiday season from Halloween through Superbowl at our home was always special with his joking around with the "neighbors kids". You could feel his smile come through the door before he ever arrived.
Just know that we will never forget David as the wonderful caring, humorous gentleman that we we're lucky enough to share such cherished times with. He will be forever missed by all of us. Love you all,

My thoughts and prayers are with Dave, his family and friends, and the whole Baumann family. I will never forget Dave's smile and how great of a teacher he was...about valves, about life, about fishing.
