Frank Getchell Obituary

BARRINGTON - Frank G. Getchell, 80, of Barrington, died Sunday, April 30, 2017, at his home after a period of failing health. Frank was born on September 6, 1936 in New London, Connecticut the son of Horace and Marion (MacDonald) Getchell.

He graduated from Dover High School Class in 1954 and had resided in Barrington since 1987.

Frank was a U.S. Air Force Veteran having served his country for 20 years retiring as Master Sergeant in 1974. Following retirement from the Air Force, Frank worked for 30 years as an auto technician for Montgomery Wards and Walmart. Frank was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Post #8.

As a child Frank especially loved sailing with his dad. Frank was an accomplished dancer. He enjoyed ballroom, country line dancing, and clogging. He spent numerous hours working in the woods near his home and enjoyed his many neighbors in Barrington.

Frank leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Lauretta (Fogarty) Boyle Getchell of Barrington; two daughters, Deborah and husband Larry Hanks of Portsmouth, Kimberly Luce and husband Daniel of Louisiana, stepchildren Sean Boyle and wife Susan of Barrington, Terry Boyle and wife Patsy of Olathe, Colo., Karen Berube and husband Glenn of Manchester, and Colleen Baker and husband Jerry of Strafford. Frank loved his grandchildren relishing their frequent visits.

SERVICES: A time of visiting will be Friday, May 5, 2017, from 9-10 a.m., followed by the funeral at 10 a.m., at Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Barrington. Please go to www.taskerfh.com to sign the on-line guest book.

I remember Frank from our days playing baseball at Henry Law Park and as a classmate at DHS. I valued his friendship. We have lost a great guy.

I have known Frank since I bowled with him a the Dover bowl we were on a team back in the 70's , then later he moved to Barrington just down the street from our house, I enjoyed stopping by while he was working on his fire wood, he was a great guy he will be missed, If you ever need anything Loretta just give me a call.
