Lea Grady Obituary

SOMERSWORTH - Lea E. (Vachon) Gagne' Grady, 95, of Somersworth, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at St. Ann Home in Dover.

She was born on July 22, 1919, in Somersworth, New Hampshire, the daughter of George and Flora (Ruel) Vachon.

Lea grew up in Somersworth, attended St. Martin Academy and was employed by Stein Shoe Manufacturing as a stitcher and a shoe model.

Lea was the widow of Larry Gagne', who passed away in 1948 from polio. After 5 years a widow, she married James J. Grady and raised 4 children.

She will be remembered with much love by her family; she was a wonderful mother and a loving "Meme" to all who needed a Meme. Her gracious smile and generous spirit will always be held close to her family's heart.

Lea was predeceased by husbands, Larry Gagne' and James J. Grady; siblings, Ida Fogarty, Richard Vachon, Arthur Vachon, Valmore Vachon, Palma Corbin, Irene Seger and Pauline Bergeron; grandchildren, Jill Bisson Politte, Wayne Merritt, Kevin Grady, Kelly Grady, Penny Jean Bisson, Edward G. Hudson; daughter-in-law, Mary Grady and son-in-law, Edward F. Hudson.

Survivors include her children, Robert Gagne' and his wife, Lorraine, Jeannine Bisson Hudson, James Grady Jr., and Ronald Grady; 14 Grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.

SERVICES: Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM on Sunday, July 5, 2015, at the Bernier Funeral Home, 49 South Street, Somersworth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2015, at St. Martin Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish, 120 Maple Street, Somersworth. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: American Heart Association, 2 Wall Street, Manchester, N.H. 03101. I also grew up on Highland St. I truly don't ever remember Mrs Grady without a smile. Perhaps she lived to such a rip old age from the hundreds of times she walked up that hill. Sympathies to you and yours
