Leslie M. Gearwar, 93, of Colebrook, and a member of America's "Greatest Generation" passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021, in Colebrook.
She was born in South Barton, Vt., on July 19, 1927, and raised there. She was the daughter of the late George and Laura (Forrest) Friend. She spent her early years of her marriage in Tahawas, NY, and she and her family moved to Madbury, NH, in 1959, where they established a dairy farm.
Leslie was a member of the Madbury Church since 1959 and spent decades teaching Sunday School and serving as church treasurer. She also worked as a cook for many years for the UNH Dining Services in Durham.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Gannon of Milton, NH; her son, Michael Gearwar of Colebrook; and a whole passel of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Leslie is predeceased by her husband Albert "Pete" Gearwar, her daughter Kathleen and a son, Mitchell.
There will be no public services. Leslie will be privately interred in the family lot at the Madbury Cemetery at a later date.

I met this kind. wonderful woman while working at UNH at Philbrook Hll.
She never saw the worst in anyone and was always a friend to everyone. We were all lucky to know her.
