Norma Unger Obituary

Norma Theresa Unger

STRAFFORD - Norma Theresa Unger, 83, of Strafford passed away on February 4, 2015 at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover.

Norma was born on September 26, 1931 in the City of Lawrence, Mass., to parents George Houle and Lena Houle (Fluet). Norma was educated at Sacred Heart School in South Lawrence graduating from Sacred Heart High School in 1950. She worked as office staff at various manufacturing companies in the city until she married Walter Unger on January 24, 1954 and began to raise her family. She leaves behind her husband Walter having just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary, and her three sons Michael (Walter) Unger and his wife Connie of Strafford, Dennis Unger and his wife Phyllis of West Newbury, Mass., and Jim Unger and his wife Jennifer of Plaistow. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren Michael, David, Alexandra, Nicholas and Lucas Unger, and three great grandchildren Cody, Joshua, and Shayla.

Norma spent the majority of her life raising her family. Later on she worked as a drugstore clerk and eventually became an office clerk for a local paper company. Her greatest pleasures came from activities with her family such as watching her grandchildren on the beach at Bow Lake, and spending time with family on Holidays and Sunday visits. She enjoyed sewing, which included family clothing, various arts and crafts, and creating porcelain dolls. In 1995 Norma and Walter retired and moved from the Family home in Lawrence to Strafford at Bow Lake Estates on Bow Lake where she spent the rest of her life. Her love for her family was her greatest attribute and she will be greatly missed by all.

The family will receive friends and loved ones for visitation on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Purdy Memorial Chapel in Lee, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Northwood, NH. Interment will take place at 2 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Andover, Mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Norma's memory to "Saint Labre Indian School" 1000 Tongue River Rd. Ashland, MT 59003.
