DURHAM - Scott Robert Blasik, 35, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Miami Beach on Tuesday July 29, 2013. Scott was born on February 7, 1978 in Portsmouth.

Scott was raised in Durham, and attended Oyster River Schools, as well as Bay State College in Boston. Throughout his school years Scott was active in sports; it seemed that the most challenging things came to him easily. He was a lefty pitcher, with a rocket arm! He passed the PAT, joined the PGA and played golf whenever he had spare time. He loved being outdoors and hiked on the Appalachian Trail twice, thoroughly enjoying the experience.

Scott was tremendously creative. His drawings and paintings are still proudly displayed in the homes of many family members. Scott also had a flair for writing and wrote with such vivid detail that as you read his stories you could see them … almost like a movie.

In 2003 Scott met his bride to be, Milena, who is from Poland and was working on Cape Cod as part of an exchange work program. Their meeting was totally by chance, but his family came to see that it was destiny. They were married on August 27, 2005 and have spent their eight years together in Boston and most recently Miami Beach. They have traveled extensively, enjoying each new adventure. Scott and Milena were totally devoted to one another and were best friends as well as lovers.

Scott was employed at Newmarket International in Portsmouth, and was their NE Regional Sales Manager. He loved working with his team of dedicated professionals and thought of them as his friends. They say that Scott always made them laugh and that he was talented, hardworking and a genuinely compassionate human being.

Scott's family will miss his hearty laugh, impishness, persuasive nature and genuine tenderness. We had a short thirty-five years with him but will cherish each experience and memory and hold them and him close to our hearts forever.

Scott leaves behind his beloved wife of eight years, Milena Joanna Blasik, his mother Jeanne Emerson and her husband Timothy Sheely of North Berwick, Maine, his father Lawrence Blasik, Jr., MD of Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, his brothers Matthew Blasik and his wife Arian of South Berwick, Maine, Alex Blasik of Wells, Maine and sisters Laurel Leslie of Indianapolis, Indiana and Katie Blasik of York, Maine. Scott also leaves his grandmother, Janet Post of Cape Cod, Mass., his nephews and niece Matthew and Mia Blasik and Theren and Aiden Leslie and many aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom he loved dearly. His death leaves a void in our family that is impossible to imagine ever being filled.

There will be a private tribute to Scott's memory at his mother's home in Maine on August 10th. The family requests that anyone wishing to honor Scott to do so by donating to a local charity of their choice. We also ask that as you read this, you smile and send a blessing to Scott for peace and love.
