Alba Bouey Obituary

Alba Maria Adelaide Bouey (Alaimo) died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones in Leesburg, VA, on April 22, 2023 at the age of 71.

Alba is survived by her children Justine Harget (Buck), Thurmont, MD; Melissa Auldridge (Tim), Leesburg, VA; and Stephen Hess, Jr., (Rachael) Thurmont, MD; her siblings, Emma Alaimo, Montreal, Canada; and Franco Alaimo, Montreal, Canada; and her grandchildren, Eddie Harget, Stephanie Harget, Samantha Hess, Bailey Hess, Blaine Hess and Tristan Hess. She is preceded in death by son William Hess, and husband James F. Bouey.

Alba was born on February 18, 1952 in Porto Empedocle, Siciliy to the late Silvio and Carmela Alaimo. Alba emigrated with her family to Germany in 1961, where she later worked for the global pharmaceutical company Merck. Alba married her ex-husband Stephen Hess, Sr. in Darmstadt, Germany November 1, 1968 and they settled in Frederick, MD in 1969 where their 4 children were born. After her divorce to Steve in February 1976, she moved with her three children to Emmitsburg, MD where she lived for 45 years. While raising her children and working, Alba taught herself to speak, read and write English. Alba met her husband James F. Bouey in Emmitsburg and they were blessed in holy matrimony March 25, 1980. In 1996, she proudly became an American citizen. Alba and Jim continued to live in Emmitsburg until Jim preceded her in death July 22, 2011. Alba was a dedicated 30+ year employee of The Sisters of Charity in Emmitsburg, MD until retiring in October 2021. She maintained friendships with her work colleagues and thought of them as her family.

Alba spoke several languages; English was her fourth language after German, French and her native tongue, Italian. She was a dedicated individual who loved her family and friends and was passionate about reading. She was an active member of her church and had a spiritual connection with Our Savior.

The family would like to thank Frederick Oncology and Capital Care Hospice of Virginia for their care and efforts. In lieu of services or flowers, the family requests donations be made to Capital Care Hospice of Virginia.

I am so sorry to hear of Alba's passing. She was a wonderful, caring, kind person and I know she will be missed dearly. She was always so nice and had a beautiful smile. I had no idea she could speak so many languages! I know she loved her family dearly and took care of people she loved. There is no one in the world like your mother. Thinking of you all during this difficult time.
