Charles Dahlgren Obituary

Mr. Charles Marshall Dahlgren Sr., 82, of Frederick, died Monday, January 23, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband for 54 years of Shirley P. Dahlgren.

Born and raised in Chicago, Ill., on November 11, 1923, he was one of five children of the late John and Louise Dahlgren

Mr. Dahlgren attended Inglewood High School and was a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. Chuck was a retired civilian Bio-Chemist with the Department of Defense at Fort Detrick and later at Aberdeen Proving Grounds.

Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Charles M. Dahlgren Jr. and wife Lisa of Charlotte, N.C., Robert B. Dahlgren and wife Jill of Frederick and James H. Dahlgren and wife Brenda of Mt. Airy; a daughter-in-law, Anne Dahlgren of Atlanta, Ga.; six grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, John Eric Dahlgren; three brothers, John, Buddy and Tom Dahlgren; and a sister, Marion Becker.

Services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family and will be private.

The Robert E. Dailey and Son Funeral Homes, P.A., Frederick, is handling the arrangements.
