Christopher Bartlett Obituary

Mr. Christopher Deering Bartlett, 53, of Frederick, MD, died unexpectedly on Friday February 8, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the devoted husband and everlasting soulmate of Chrissie A. Bartlett, loving father to Westly D. Bartlett and Bailey C. Bartlett, both of Frederick.

Born on August 26, 1959 in Washington D.C., he was the son of the late Fred D. and Maryllis Rieger Bartlett.

Raised in Silver Spring and Rockville, Chris graduated from Thomas Wootton High School in 1977, playing football and basketball. Following a year at West Virginia University he decided to try his hand in the roofing business. After several years of learning the trade from the bottom up, in 1991 he entered into his own enterprise, the beginnings of the highly successful Bartlett Roofing and Sheet Metal. His gift was in establishing a per- sonal relationship with his customers, getting to know them over a hot cup of coffee before talking details.

Although Chris provided a roof over many businesses and homes across the Mid-Atlantic region, and was known throughout the Frederick com- munity as a successful business leader, his proudest accomplishment was in providing for his family. He was an ever-ready handyman, willing to answer calls at any hour from friends, neighbors and family. An avid reader and self-taught carpenter, plumber and electrician, he could design and build most any structure, repair most any piece of equipment.

On any given late fall evening, after a hard day's deer hunt, he could often be found standing with his buddies around a campfire somewhere in the mountains of Western Maryland. No stranger to a proper Maryland crabcake, he was an accomplished crab picker. Ever the coach and teacher, he reveled in the chance to pass on such skills to others.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister MelindaFox of Gaithersburg, brother Rick Bartlett and wife Angela of Cumberland, brother-in-law Shannon Allcock and wife Ann of Laytonsville, sister-in-law Stephanie Rico and husband Vincent of Brookville, and brother-in-law Jeff Allcock and wife Robin of Charlotte, NC., son-in-law of Harry M. and Marilyn Allcock of Wilmington, NC. He is also loved and admired by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 3-5 pm & 7-9 pm on Friday February 15, 2013 at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at Frederick Christian Fellowship, 10142 Hansonville Rd,Frederick, MD 21702. Pastor Janet Cregger will officiate. Reception will be held afterwards at the church. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Christopher D. Bartlett Memorial Fund, PNC Bank, In care of Jeannie Fawley, 5279 Buckeystown Pike Frederick, MD 21704. Contributions can be made by mail or at any PNC Bank location.

Dear Bartlett Family,

I am so sad to here about the passing of Chris. I met Chris at WVU during the Fall of 1977 when we were both Freshman. We shared so many laughs together. Some people on the path of life we shake their hands and get on our way. Others leave an impact on our soul. Although I haven't seen or spoke with Chris in many years the times we spent together at Dadisman hall at WVU will always bring a smile to my face. Damn, he was a great guy. God Bless all of you.

Bartlett Family,

So sorry for your loss. Chris was a story pole of character(and stature) for others to view. He had a way of making those around him better people in so many ways and I was lucky to have had that opportunity.

Sincerely,

Eric St.Lawrence
