David Wahl Obituary

Mr. David Michael Wahl, 47, of Point of Rocks, died suddenly Tuesday, September 19, 2006, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born June 21, 1959, in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, he was the son of Samuel Ralph and Eva Culler Wahl of New Market. He was the husband of Sherry Smith Wahl, his wife of 29 years.

Mr. Wahl was a 1976 graduate of Linganore High School. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Feagaville. He was employed for 29 years as a brick and stone mason, formerly with Wells and Associates of Beltsville and then Long Masonry of Westminster. He enjoyed his grandchildren, spending time with his family and his dog, Diva Marie, and playing houseroof football.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by two daughters, Kathy Jean Barrett and husband Gary of Brunswick and Tracey M. Carr and husband Sean of Smithsburg; three grandchildren, Gary M. and Joshua D. Barrett and Brendan S. Carr; two sisters, Teresa M. Webb and husband Gary of Union Bridge and Rose Ann McMurdo and husband Daniel of New Market; five brothers, Daniel R. Wahl of Frederick, Steven K. and Robert A. Wahl, both of New Market, J. Christopher Wahl Sr. and wife Sheri of Frederick and Richard C. Wahl and wife Amy of Brunswick; mother-in-law, Hazel Smith of near Libertytown; sister-in-law, Vicky Schaszberger of Littlestown, Pa.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Julia E. Wahl, and father-in-law, Kenneth Smith.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, September 23, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Feagaville, with the Rev. Marie Bunt, church pastor, officiating. Interment will be in St. Luke's Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Rd., Libertytown, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, September 22.
