George Shultz Obituary
Mr. George Patrick "Pat" Shultz, 70, of 11014 Carriage Lane, near Libertytown, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, at his home after a brief illness.
Born March 17, 1934, in Cairo, Ill., he was the son of the late Albert T. and Frances Bedwell Shultz Oller. He was the loving husband of Mary T. Shultz, who died in 1994. --
Mr. Shultz was a 1951 graduate of St. Joseph's High School in Cairo.--He served in the U.S. Navy on the destroyer USS Buck and was stationed in Japan during the Korean War.--Following the war, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1958 from the University of Illinois and his Master of Education degree in 1966 from the University of Maryland.--He was employed as a school teacher in Montgomery County High School for 10 years; at Wheaton High School for 10 years, teaching industrial education; 10 years at Wooten High School as a guidance counselor; and then at Rock Terrace as the special education work coordinator, from where he retired in 1992.--He also taught at Local 26, Electricians Union of Washington, D.C. --
He was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Libertytown; V.F.W. Post 9863 and MISGA (Maryland Interstate Senior Golf Association) of Glade Valley Golf Club, Walkersville.--He authored several books, "Transformers and Motors," "Test Instruments," and was working on a current manuscript, "DC/AC Theory and Applications," which will be completed by his son Paul.--Mr. Shultz enjoyed golf and traveling.
He is survived and beloved by his seven children, Paul T. Shultz and wife Michele of Clarksville, Stephen P. Shultz and wife Dana of Keymar, Michael J. Shultz and wife Jo Ann of Spring Hill, Tenn., Mary E. Novocin and husband Douglas of Mount Airy, Patricia L. Shultz of Martinsburg, W.Va., Kathleen R. Quinones and husband Nicholas of Fairplay, Daniel A. Shultz and wife Paula of Frederick; 12 grandchildren who will greatly miss him; a great-grandson; a sister and brother, Gwen Crider and Don Oller, both of Jackson, Tenn.; and brother Gary Oller of Conyers, Ga.--He will also be remembered by Sally O'Neal of Rockville. He was predeceased by his stepmother who raised him, Rossie Watkins Shultz. --
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17 at Sappington Hall at St. Peter's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. John Dietzenbach as celebrant.--The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Road, Libertytown, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, where a Christian wake service will be at 8:45 p.m. --
