John, I still think of you my friend and often wonder what advice you would give me when problems come up. I spoke of you when the pandemic hit and all the work we had done in preparedness to see that people don't pay attention until something happens.
Your gift was all the people you trained and coached to be in the right place when you could no longer be there. I am very grateful for everything you taught me and I know many others are as well.
Enjoy your well earned rest and you know your life made a huge impact on the world.

I refer to John a lot in my various presentations on safety and preparedness activities. I know that during this current crisis John would still be on the front lines providing guidance and wisdom.
John was more than a colleague, but a friend that you enjoyed working with and spending time together. We got more accomplished over lunch or desert than most committees and meetings. John treated you like you were family and he truly cared about what he did.
Great loss to all of us.

It has been years since I have seen John (Suburban)but have heard many good things about him over the years. He was kind enough to explain many things regarding the Army when I so needed those details. A memorial trip to Fort Dix more than 40 years ago.

I am blessed that I was able to know and work with John @ FMH & remember him as a such a sweet and kind man.
As the days and weeks pass, and as your family returns to life's routine, may they feel comforted by all the good memories & support of family and friends. Although your tour of duty has changed, you will never be forgotten. Rest in peace.

Debbie and Mary Lynn I'm deeply saddened for the loss of Mr. Veltri. I cared about him above and beyond the relationship between a boss and employee. He was truly important to me and my family. Mr. Veltri was a strong willed and very determined man. He wouldn't take no for an answer to anything he felt strongly about. He was an ambitious and remarkably intelligent man. I know first hand that FMH was his life. I'm sure there were many times you wished he were home, but, the needs of ensuring a safe and secure environment at FMH was what he lived many years for. He loved his family very much. He always talked about his pride and joy, Mary Lynn. I know he loved Robbie with all he had, however, it was different than the love for his baby girl. He was so happy and proud of Jake. I last talked to Mr. Veltri in February 2010, after a huge snow storm went through Frederick County. The last time we met wasn't a very good situation. However, there are many chapters in the book of life. Unfortunately I closed the chapter between him and I that was very unsettling. I never forgot what he taught me and the many life lessons we shared. This has been a very difficult and sad time for me the past couple of months. From losing Ed Dowling, now to Mr. Veltri. Two inspiring men that taught me the full understanding of being a professional healthcare safety and security representative. I will miss Mr. Veltri very much. Debbie you know our relationship was much greater that extended beyond FMH. I hope to see you both tonight. I know he has joined Robbie and his other family that has returned home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ. I love you both very much and will be seeing you soon

John took his work at FMH so seriously 24/7. We benefited from his feeling of ownership of the staff, patients and the building. He was with the hospital through some hard decisions and changes. He was kind to so many. I thank him for his service to our country in a difficult assignment during a difficult era.

It has been a very long time since John and I had spoken. We met in 1974 at Montgomery College where we both were on the Security team. Next came Suburban Hospital in the security department. Then his move to Frederick Memorial. Forty five years may be a long time but his smile and concern for people made him a shining star. Rest well my friend.

I worked with John at FMH for several years, and although we sometimes did not see eye to eye on some things, I had much respect for him as a Security director. But it was the other side of John, that not many seen at work that I was blessed to know. He had a big heart that would do anything he could for anyone. John I Thank you so much for your service to our country! and I will miss you, but will always be grateful for the opportunity to know you.

I had the privilege of knowing John when he worked at FMH. We had many a good time together and it was always good to be with him. He was well known in every Italian Restaurant we visited.
Over the years he was at FMH we had many meetings and made significant progress in developing relationships and strengthening the healthcare system. John was a pioneer in partnership building.
John was always willing to go the extra mile. He was a wonderful person and I am glad I had the opportunity to meet him.
Best wishes to his family during this time of loss

John Veltri - A REAL HERO

John Veltri, a real American Hero that served three tours in Vietnam. During the war, he was wounded. Mr. Veltri was the type of person who would help anyone that needed help. To many he was an angel (He was my angel). God chose him to be in my life, and for that I am thankful. He had his own battles, some he saw victories During our last visit, I told him I will see you on the other side. He was a man that I will always be proud to call ADOPT FATHER because he was that and much more. HE WAS A TRUE FRIEND.
