Kenneth Eugene Downey died Monday, January 11, 2016 at Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland, MS at the age of 86. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Holy Savior Catholic Church, 714 Lindale St., Clinton, MS with visitation at 10 AM. He will be laid to rest at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Kenneth was born October 11, 1929 in St. Louis, MO. He was the son of Warren Downey and Katherine Marie Muhling Downey. He graduated from St. Louis University High School and received his B.S. and Air Force Commission from St. Louis University. He was a public accountant and owned and operated Downey Accounting Service for 48 years. He was a member of National Society of Accountants, Mississippi Association of Public Accountants, and Central Mississippi Association of Public Accountants. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Jackson, MS. His wife, Flora Campbell Downey, his parents, and brother, Robert W. Downey preceded him in death.
He is survived by his son, Kenneth D. Downey, daughters Carol D. Maples of White Hall, AR and Margaret D. Hardy (Jack) of Terry MS; granddaughters Michelle Downey, Melissa Downey Boutwell (Jason), Marie Downey Wall (Roe), Jay Maples (Leah), Heather Hardy Mathis (Joe), Leslie Hardy Smith (Drew) and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Ministries, 450 Towne Center Boulevard, Ridgeland, MS 39157.
