Mark Shorter Obituary

On August 27, 2017, Mark Adrian Shorter, 50, formerly of Virginia Beach, died suddenly following a heart attack at Frederick Memorial Hospital with Renata, his wife of 10 years, by his side.

Born January 1, 1967, he was a staff member Camp Bethel Ministries in Wise, Virginia. He attended Milligan College in Elizabethton, TN, where he earned a BS in Computer Science in 1993. Mark was proud to serve in the US Air Force. He worked as a Repository Technology Specialist, including positions abroad. There he met and married the love of his life, Renata Myhalyuk on July 27, 2007. He found employment at Fort Detrick in Frederick, where he resided with his family until his death.

Mark was a member of the Frederick Church of the Brethren, where he participated in the men's bible study and enjoyed the contemporary service. Mark was passionate about his walk with Jesus Christ. He loved cars, sailing and the great outdoors, especially camping trips with his precious children. Mark will be leaving behind his antique cars, a classic MG and Triumph Spitfire.

Mark left behind his beloved wife Renata and 2 children, Samuel Levi, 7 and Madeline Grace, 4; as well as, a daughter Valerie Kristine, 24. He is also survived by his parents, Joe Shorter of Elizabeth City, NC and Norma and George Mcleod of Norfolk, VA; brothers Mike, also of Norfolk and Joseph (Charyl) Shorter of Virginia Beach, VA; sister Sherry (Doug) Sturgill of Longs, SC; in-laws Vyacheslav and Nina Mygalyuk; sisters in-law, Roksolana, Ruslana, Rosa, Romana, Radmila, Rosita; brothers in-law, Rostyslav, Radomyr and Rodion and several nephews and nieces who remember him fondly.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Mark will take place on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 12 noon at the Frederick Church of the Brethren, 201 Fairview Avenue, Frederick, MD 21701. Reception to follow.
