Steven Wolfe Obituary

Steven Eugene Wolfe, a lifelong resident of Rocky Ridge, passed away unexpectedly on February 8, 2024 at the age of 66.

Steve attended and graduated from Catoctin High School in 1975. After high school, he worked for several companies, including the Brick plant, Ralph Baker & Son Concrete, the National Fire Academy and then eventually took a job with FCPS, where he retired as a general maintenance mechanic in April of 2023.

Steve was a very hardworking and humble man who touched the lives of so many and made such a positive impact on his community. He coached both Little League and Senior League baseball and thoroughly enjoyed his days on the fields. But most of all what he loved about the sport was being able to coach his son, Chad. He was also an active member with the Rocky Ridge Volunteer Fire Department, where he spent years working the Ham Sandwich stand at their annual carnival, and most recently received his 50 year service pin. Steve also spent countless hours helping to maintain his church building and attending church functions. He was so honored to serve as a deacon for Rocky Ridge Church of the Brethren.

In his spare time, Steven enjoyed vacationing with his beloved family to Ocean City and West Virginia where so many memories were made, as well as treating his grandsons and family to a week at Disney. He also enjoyed gardening, cutting firewood, mowing grass, riding his Harley, and helping everyone in need. The word "no" was never in his vocabulary. Above all else, he was a family man and the jokester of the house. He enjoyed every moment he spent with his family and never missed an opportunity to attend his grandchildren's events. He never ended a phone call or a visit without telling them he loved them and was so proud of them.

The most important part of Steve's life was his relationship with God and his beautiful and loving high school sweetheart of 49 years. Steve is survivied by his wife Faye and their devoted and much loved children, Chad (Caraline) Wolfe and Lacee (Justin) Andrew. He also leaves behind his "Pappy's Boys" who were his biggest blessings in life, Brayden and Landen Andrew and Weston Wolfe. He was also anxiously awaiting the birth of his granddaughter.

Surviving, in addition to his immediate family, are his mother Barbara Gann; brother Terry (Theresa) Wolfe, aunt Linda (John) Skiles; sisters-in-law Judy Kelly, Jean Knipple, Joyce (Bub) Seiss; and brother-in-law, Bob (Sharon) Baker. He also leaves behind longtime friends, Bobby Toms and Dawn and Brian Speak, who he loved so much, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

So many special people have touched his life, each one of you know who you are. He had so many friends, too numerous to mention. With Steve, once a friend, always a friend!

He was preceded in death by his father, Dean Wolfe; his grandparents, Grover and Ruth Wolfe and Charlie and Hazel Renner. Also his brothers, Denny, Dwayne and Fred Wolfe, his mother- and father-in-law, Ralph and Naomi Baker, of who he had profound respect; and family members, Jerry Baker, Forry Knipple and Timmy Kelly.

His family will miss his smile, his laid back personality, his positive outlook on life and all the jokes he played. He was so selfless, so dependable and was truly the rock of his family.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 13 at 2 p.m. at Rocky Ridge Church of the Brethren. Family and friends will be received 1 hour prior to services. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rocky Ridge Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 117, or Rocky Ridge Church of the Brethren, 13517 Motters Station Rd., Rocky Ridge, MD 21778.

I will Steve very much. He always had a kind word and a smile for me everytime he stopped by the FCPS shop. He would do anything for you all you had to do was ask. My heart and prayers go out to his wife and family.

Faye and family, We are devastated to hear that Steve is gone. He was such a wonderful guy. He never changed and always had that big smile when he saw you. It was always a good time with Steve! Remember when we ran into you two at Rocky's and it was Edison's birthday?
Tony got a cake, and we had an impromptu birthday party. That is such a wonderful memory and one of our favorites!
We know life is going to be difficult without Steve. Please know that we are praying for Steve, and may the love of friends and family help give you and the family the strength to move forward. Steve was one in a million.

Steve demonstrated to us it is not the things you buy that are life's richest treasures. It is that special high school sweetheart you found and treasured; wonderful children and grandchildren God blessed him with. The extended family you find as the two become one~truly being a part of that family and helping all. Those are the little 'heart gifts' that money cannot measure. The impact a simple smile had on people, a friendly word and a sympathetic nod, became priceless little treasures that Steve shared with many. He never asked for anything in return, just the joy of helping others. He was so full of love for his family and proud of them all. Our lives will be forever changed because we called him friend. We are so very sorry Faye, Chad and Lacee for your loss and extend our deepest sympathy to you and your families. He was truly one in a million...

My memories of Steve began when he was playing slow pitch softball for the Village Store, with Roland "Smittie" coaching. He was so young, Faye was always there, tho not married yet, Nip and Jean would always be there, Pup, Eddie, Jimmie, Greg and many more. We all came with our families and sometimes afterwards, would gather at my home and eat crabs and drink a little beer. I know that he carried a heavy burden, carring for Fred and with Faye, he finally had a warm and loving family. Richard, Steve and Pup were very close growing up as their grandparents were just down the street. My heart goes out to Faye, his kids and grandkids. His is a loss for his family, his church, the fire co. and the entire community. Stevie, you will always be the kid, our catcher and someone with a smile so large.

When we heard the horrible news my heart dropped. Steve was one of the nicest person with such a great smile. He would do anything for anyone and even seeing him pass your drive way with a great wave your day was alot better. He had that kind of magic about him. Growing up in rocky ridge everyone knows everyone you see the men racing into the old fire hall and at times when you were raised up on the corner you often bet how fast each men or woman would get to the truck first. He was an honored fire fighter and probley everyone's friend. You will be missed Steve may every memory keep your loved ones safe and at peace. God bless Faye, Chad and Lacee and there families
