Delbert DeVivi Obituary

Delbert W. DeVivi

Delbert William DeVivi Sr., 90, of Lake of the Woods passed away Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011, at his home.

He was born in Butler, Pa., on Nov. 10, 1923, the son of the late Carmine and Vienna Spera DeVivi. He was the widower of Viola Mae Delf DeVivi.

Survivors include his daughters, Tinya Dunn and her husband, Keith, of Lake of the Woods and Sharon Coggins and her fiance, David, of Smith Mountain Lake; and his sons, Peter DeVivi and his wife, Andrea, of Waterloo, N.Y., and Kenneth DeVivi and his wife, Vickie, of Fredericksburg. Also surviving is a brother, Carmine DeVivi and his wife, Pat, of Corrales, N.M.

He came to Orange County in 1946 and worked with his brother in the restaurant business. He then went to work as manager at the Orange Furniture Co., which was subsequently acquired by Schewell's Furniture. He worked in the furniture business for about 40 years.

"Deb," as he was called, was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, which became St. Isadore the Farmer Catholic Church, where he was active in the choirs. He was also a past member of the Orange Jaycees, Orange Lions Club and Orange VFW Post 2217.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Isadore the Farmer Catholic Church on Friday, Sept. 2, at 2 p.m. Preddy Funeral Home of Orange is in charge of local arrangements.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of the Rapidan, which gave much love and care to their father in the past year.
