The Rev. Herbert Pollard Hall, 88, of Irvington passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, at the Richmond home of his son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Wesley and Brenda Hall, who were his caregivers during his lengthy illness.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Roberta D. Hall.

Grandchildren include Matthew Hall (and Megan), Erin Bray (and Adam), Lauren Smith (and Powell) and Alex and Anakela Hall; brother Willard Hall (and Esther); and many relatives and friends.

Mr. Hall was a minister in the United Methodist Church, and served from 1970 through 1980 at New Hope UMC in Stafford County. He will be remembered for his visitation to the sick and elderly, and his good memory for quoting inspirational poems and Scripture. He was a lifetime member of Irvington UMC, and an honorary member of Irvington Baptist Church.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Currie Funeral Home in Kilmarnock on Friday, Dec. 17. A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18, at Irvington UMC, with interment in the church cemetary.
