James Murray Obituary
JAMES "JIM" age 65, passed away peacefully, Saturday, October 22, 2016 after a short battle with cancer. Jim was born to James and Jean (Halloway) Murray on June 12, 1951 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Jim married his high school sweetheart, Susan (Mickens) on January 23, 1970. Jim worked for Huron Township for 17 years and most recently served as Marion Township Treasurer. Jim was a great man, husband, father, papa who set an outstanding example of how to be selfless, compassionate and respectful to others. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at the lake boating and fishing. Jim is survived by his wife Susan, his children Jim (Sarah), Joe (Christina), his grandchildren Madelyn, Lauren, Nathan and Alexis. Jim is also survived by his sisters Jari Jacobson and Jane Olson and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jean Parks. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Herrmann Funeral Home in Fowlerville, MI. Visitations are being held Saturday, November 5 at 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with the service beginning at 1 p.m. Arrangements by Herrmann Funeral Home.

Jim was truly a wonderful man, I was fortunate to have worked w/him for 11 of his 17 years at Huron & was so proud when he became Treasurer of Marion Twp. He always went above & beyond & never had to be asked twice. He was such an asset to our community & I will miss him. As the Treasurer of Huron I was able to stay connected w/Jim thru the MI Municipal Treasurers Assoc. & all his fellow MMTA associates will miss him & his wit & honesty. My thoughts & prayers go out to Sue & the family & know I will always be thankful for his friendship..."Okay Dokey" XO

Jim worked at Huron Charter Township for 17 years and of those 17 years I had the pleasure of working with him for a little over 3 years. We had many laughs and good times as well as serving our community with humor especially the young children at Miller and Brown Elementary when we shared our careers with them on Career Day. He is sadly missed by all who knew and loved him best.
