The funeral for Alphonse R. "Al" Pfeifer, 92, of Fremont will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont, 3400 E. 16th St.
He died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at Fremont Area Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 6, 1911, in Lindsay. He grew up in Lindsay and then farmed at Lindsay until moving to Fremont in October 1961. He worked at Magnus Metal Co. in Fremont as a machinist, until retiring in 1976.
He married Clara C. Heimann on Jan. 12, 1937, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lindsay. She preceded him in death Dec. 23, 2001.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont and sang in the church choir for 24 years. He was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1497 of Fremont. He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 200 of Fremont.
Survivors include: four sons, Daniel (and wife, Ruth) Pfeifer of Yucaipa, Calif., Charles (and wife, Dianne) Pfeifer of Omaha, Henry (and wife, Brenda) Pfeifer of Hooper and Dale Pfeifer of Fremont; a daughter, Arlene (Mrs. Jack) Engelbert of Omaha; four brothers, Richard (and wife, Magdalen) Pfeifer of Norfolk, Martin Pfeifer of Fremont, Sylvester Pfeifer and Benedict (and wife, Irene) Pfeifer, all of Lindsay; a sister, Magdelene Hegemann of Greeley, Colo.; 24 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by a son, three sisters, four brothers and two infant brothers.
The Rev. Owen Korte will officiate Friday's service. A public rosary led by the Knights of Columbus will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Thursday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont and 6-7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Fremont.
