Delores "Dode" Voss, 82, of Fremont died Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at the Pathfinder House in Fremont.
She was born Feb. 5, 1928, in Cedar Bluffs to John and Marie (Hansen) Jessen. She grew up on a farm near Cedar Bluffs until moving to Fremont in 1943 at age 15. She worked for Model Cleaners, Croghan Cleaners and then for Parkview Cleaners in Fremont for a total of 40 years as a dress presser, retiring in 1980.
Delores Jessen married Elmer G. Voss on Feb. 6, 1949, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Cedar Bluffs. He died Dec. 25, 2000.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont.
Survivors include: a grandson, Jason Voss of Fremont; a brother, Lloyd Jessen of Fremont; six sisters, Mardell (and husband, Fred) Heybrock, Lola Meyer, Shirley Dwyer, Gloria (and husband, Richard) Andersen, Norma Hagerty and Judy Anderson, all of Fremont; a daughter-in-law, Pam Voss of Bennett, Colo.; and sisters-in-law, Marilyn Jessen and Louise Voss of Fremont.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dennis Voss; an infant daughter, Bonnie Jean Voss; granddaughter, JaDee Voss; two sisters, Rose Marie Jessen and Florene Jessen; and brother, Delbert Jessen.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont with the Rev. Timothy Gierke officiating. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Burial will be 1 p.m. at Kennard Cemetery in Kennard.
Memorials may be directed to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or Kennard Cemetery.
