Eddie Newill Obituary

Eddie Joe Newill, 65, of Fremont died Thursday, April 2, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family.

Eddie was born Aug. 22, 1949, in Oakland to George and Marie (Swanson) Newill.

His family moved to the Fremont area in 1949 where Eddie grew up. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp from July 1, 1969, to June 30, 1972, during the Vietnam War. He attended boot camp in San Diego. He attended Guerrilla Warfare School before volunteering to go to Vietnam. He served in Vietnam from 1970 to 1971. He was an infantryman and carried a M-79 Grenade Launcher, where he received a Vietnam Service Medal, Rifleman Sharpshooter Badge, a National Defense Service Medal, and a Combat Action Ribbon.

After serving his time in the Marine Corps and being honorably discharged, he lived in Garden Grove, Calif., where he met his future wife, Jeannie, before returning to his hometown of Fremont. Eddie and Jeannie were married March 7, 1981. Upon returning to Fremont, he owned and operated his own construction and roofing company, retiring in 2000. He also owns Newill Rentals of Fremont.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannie of Fremont; son, Tadd (Angel) Newill of Fremont; daughters, Jaime Marie Osborn of Valparaiso and Sarrah Newill of Fremont; grandchildren, Hailee, Hannah, Ryan and Reid Osborn of Valparaiso, Lilly Newill, Addison Newill, and Dylan and Cole Poole of Fremont; brothers, Larry (Diane) Newill, Rolland (Betty) Newill, Dave (Christy) Newill, Mert (Joyce) Newill, Randy (Kathie) Newill, and Jim (Cheryl) Newill, all of Fremont; sisters, Betty Rasmussen, Janice (Lenny) Sampson, Naomi Marconett and Sharon (Don) Henery, all of Fremont; sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Randy) Baye of North Bend; brothers-in-law, Harold Mueller and Steven DiMiceli of Fremont; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and many special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Keith Newill; and sisters, Fern Cooper, Georgia Mueller and Diane Newill.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Lt. Col. Dana Shreve will officiate. There will be no visitation. Graveside services with military honors will be at Ridge Cemetery in Fremont immediately following the service.

Memorials may be directed to the Disabled American Veterans.
