Leslie Holst

Leslie M. Holst, 63, of Sioux Falls, S.D., died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007, at the O/E Campground in rural Platte, S.D., after a short bout with cancer.

He was born Dec. 15, 1943, in Fremont to Carl P. and Margaret E. (Wackel) Holst. He graduated from St. Patrick's Catholic High School in Fremont. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was honorably discharged in 1966. He married Deanna F. Wedergren on Feb. 6, 1971, in Dakota City. He worked for many years at Jay's Body Shop in Sioux Falls before retiring in 2005.

He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family and friends.

Those grateful for having shared his life include: his wife; two stepsons, Cory and Mark Peterson of Phoenix; his aunt and uncle, Bob and Carol Wackel of Fremont; brothers-in-law, Jerry (and wife, Joann) Wedergren of Fremont and Tom (and wife, Georganne) Wedergren of San Francisco; sister-in-law, Georgia (and husband, Don) Payne of Lincoln; and many close friends in Sioux Falls and Platte.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
