Maxine Chapman Obituary
Maxine V. Chapman, 84, of Fremont died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at Nye Legacy Health & Rehab Center in Fremont.
She was born Jan. 26, 1928, south of Burke, S.D. She grew up in Burke and moved to Fremont in 1941. She was a 1945 graduate of Fremont High School. Maxine married Kevin Chapman on May 12, 1947, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont. Kevin died August 24, 2009. She worked at the former Philips Department Store in Fremont. Maxine and her husband owned Chapman's Candles.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont where she was an usher. She was a member and past secretary and treasurer of the International Guild of Candle Artisans.
Maxine is survived by daughter, Marlene (and husband, Jim) Bottger of Fremont; sons, Keith (and wife, Linda) Chapman, Dean (and wife, Judy) Chapman and Bill Chapman (and special friend, Sue Billesbach), all of Fremont; sisters, Caroline Horst of Rapid City, S.D., Bonnie (and husband, Doler) Hanson of Chadron and Cheryl (and husband, Rob) Auseth of Brandon, S.D.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and daughter-in-law, Jill Chapman.
The funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont with the Revs. Jim Keiter and Ron Battiato officiating. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. today at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. and a rosary/vigil service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time Friday at the church. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
