He was born May 14, 1946, in Shamokin, Pa., to Harry and Mary (Sminkey) Reinhardt. He grew up in Coal Run, Pa., and graduated from West Philadelphia Catholic High School for Boys in 1964. He served in the U.S. Air Force from Oct. 2, 1964, to

Oct. 1, 1968. He was stationed at Scribner Air Force Base and served in Vietnam. He held the rank of sergeant. After his discharge, he attended Midland Lutheran College, receiving his bachelor of arts degree in 1973. Richard worked for Valmont Industries as irrigation sales director for 30 years. He spent the past 11 years working for Komet Irrigation as Marketing Director for North America.

Richard married Jody Mechtenberg on Dec. 21, 1985, in Fremont.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Fremont Chamber of Commerce, Irrigation Association and Valley View Golf Club.

Survivors include: his wife, Jody; son, Jon (and wife, Stephanie) Reinhardt of Omaha; daughters, Christine Reinhardt of Omaha and Meghan Reinhardt of Lincoln; brother, Harry (and wife, Linda) Reinhardt of Berwick, Pa.; sister, Sandra (and husband, Mike) Schneider of Northumberland, Pa.; and two grandchildren, Carson and Chloe Reinhardt.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont with the Rev. Ron Battiato officiating. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Sunday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. and a rosary/vigil service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time Monday at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Fremont with military honors conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 854 and American Legion Post 20.
