ALBERT ROUSSEAU Obituary

We can hardly believe it's been one year since we lost our beloved father, Albert A. Rousseau, Sr. Our family and community have lost a fine, caring, generous, patriotic and loyal man. Dad was born on February 3, 1926 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was the youngest child in the family and his siblings, Louis and Eunice, predeceased him. Due to the hardships of The Great Depression on his family, Dad grew up in an orphanage. At 15, he lied about his age so he could enter the navy to serve his country. This would be the beginning of a life of public service. He actively served in World War II and the Korean War. He was a Purple Heart recipient for his service on the USS Franklin. After serving in active duty, he continued serving his country in the Army National Guard moving up the ranks to ultimately retire as Chief Warrant Officer. Besides his family, Dad's greatest passion was as a police officer for the Fresno Police Department. He served 28 distinguished years for the department and among his many accomplishments was being awarded Police Officer of the Year in 1978. His favorite job while on the force was his time in the identification bureau photographing crime scenes, performing fingerprint analysis and other evidentlary collecting duties. Outside of public service, Dad was known for being a very charitable and giving man. He would routinely visit family and friends with care packages never asking for anything in return except maybe a cup of coffee, friendship and good conversation. Dad left behind his beloved wife, Lizibet, of 59 years; his three children, Georgia, Albert Jr., Jean and his wife Andria; and five grandchildren, (little) Andrea, Nick, Jordan, Alexandra and Madison, Dad you are cherished in our hearts and forever missed. Your loving family.

Albert:
You were my first training officer during my brief career as a Fresno Police Officer in 1976. I t was most enjoyable and enlightening during those few months working days in mid summer 1976. Thank you-you are not forgotten.
