ARMANDO CADENA Obituary

Eddie Cadena, age 47, of Clovis, CA, passed peacefully on Monday, September 17, 2018, surrounded by his loved ones. His death comes after a battle with cancer and other complications. Eddie grew up in Fresno where he attended Fremont Elementary School, Dailey Elementary School and Tehipite Middle School, before graduating from Fresno High School in 1989. He was the first in his family to pursue a university degree, majoring in Journalism with a minor in U.S. History, graduating from University of California, Berkley in 1993. Eddie went on to work with ABC News in San Francisco, CA, and Fresno. He also worked for CBS News in Fresno, and for Yahoo! He was a talented writer and producer, receiving many accolades in his early years, winning an Emmy for his work on the OJ Simpson trial. Eddie was fun, full of laughter and love. His heart was bigger than most, he loved people and loved life. Often the smartest one in the room, he was an avid reader, comic book lover, and super hero aficionado. Eddie was always a kid at heart. He was preceded in death by his father, Armando Cadena; and grandfather, Adrian Cadena. He is survived by his mother, Corina Cadena; sister, Susie Mendez and husband Johnny; nephews, Antonio Mendez and his wife Rosa, and Bobby Mendez; niece Amanda-Jacqueline Mendez; great-nephew John; and great-niece Selina. A public Viewing will be held at Crosspoint Church, 2518 N. Cedar Avenue, Fresno, CA 93703, on Monday, September 24, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Eddie's family requests donations to be made in his name to the Central California Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at las.org/central-california; or to Crosspoint Church at crosspointfresno.com.
