I am still in shock after finding out of Brad's passing on the ticker screen while watching ESPNU. I feel like I lost a little brother since your entire family took me in and treated my like one of the family while being so far away from home for the first time after college. Alot of good memories helping Dr. Bob coach Brad and friends in Babe Ruth and watching him grow up as an athlete and young man. Thank you for letting me be a part of Brad's and the entire Martin Family!

I remember sitting in Cougar stadium during the season opener of Brad's FR year. I thought I knew everything about BYU football and all of the suddent here was this QB out there on defense making plays. I loved the way Brad played and I am sad to see he is gone. To his family, my deepest condolences I can only imagine the grief of losing someone so special. My thoughts and prayers are with you. May God bless you and sustain you in this time of grief.

I'm shocked to hear of Brad's passing. We became friends playing together at BYU. I was Brad's understudy. He had a charisma that few in this world have, and a person that you wanted to be around. It was difficult to live up to the standard that he set, because he played the game like he lived his life--with all his heart, with passion. My heart goes out to his family in this difficult time. May the Lord be with you to comfort you, and know that He has called one of His favorite sons home. Brad will be sorely missed.

We feel great sorrow and sympathy to the Martin family losing such a great kid. Many memories come forth when our boys played ball together. Brad was an inspiration. We enjoyed the times when they played on the same team and admired. his competiveness when we had to play against him. He was always a gentleman either way. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Martin Family,
I was saddened to hear of the passing of Brad. Our family experienced the same thing a few years ago with my youngest brother. It is difficult to see a loved one pass on.
It was a joy to watch Brad play football. I know many coaches here in Clovis and none of them wanted to defend him. As an attacking QB he punished the defenses. I will have those memories of him. An ultimate warrior once he stepped onto the battlefield.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Sincerely,
Matt Madsen & Family

Brad has accomplished and experienced so many things in his short life that most people could look at him and with envy say he lived a blessed life. However, the tragedy in Brad's passing is that he didn't have the time to accomplish the many more wonderful things that lay in wait for him. He was a very gifted individual... intelligent, strong, athletic. I always looked up to him for his leadership and for his competitive prowess. He was a great teammate and friend. My condolences go out to his family in their loss.

My heart goes out to the Martin Family.
I was honored to play football at BYU with Brad. He was a great teammate and an absolute warrior. He is one of THE reasons that we went 14-1 in 1996. His uncanny ability to pick up fumbles and make plays gave our team a spark each and every game. I wish that I could have been at the graveside with the other guys that I played with to honor Brad and his family. As grateful as I am for Brad's friendship, I think I am even more grateful for the way that he treated my little brother Todd. My brother walked on to the team and Brad treated him like an All American. I will never be able to thank him for that. That meant more to me than any play that he ever made for BYU. I feel honored to be one of Brad's many friends. May the Lord bless and comfort your family.
Sincerely, Chad Lewis

Brad's laughter and sense of humor are what I will remember most. The kids together at Dee and Ann's, and dinners at Dorothy's. My kids, their kids, they all adored cousin Brad and they laughed long and hard when they were together. Brad, I wish you peace and may your laughter ring out across heaven with those who have gone before.

My sincerest condolences go out to Brad’s family and friends. I was able to coach with Brad for a time at Lone Peak High School and remember him as being bright, passionate about life and football and a fun man to work with.
I will not soon forget sitting the booth on game nights – bag of sunflower seeds – calling fronts and stunts for the sideline coaches. Brad could hardly wait until the end of the 3rd quarter to get down to the field where his feet could be on the grass and he could look the players in the eyes.
He loved the game and it was my pleasure to watch him and many were able to feed off his energy and excitement. I certainly enjoyed my time with Brad – as short as it was.
Again, my thoughts and prayers are with the Martin family at this time. May the Lord bless you and keep you safe in his love.

Brad and I first met playing baseball with one another in the 7th grade. We played together as teammates for several years, forging an unforgettable bond. I haven't seen Brad in years now, but I can't help but think about the last time we saw eachother, he came up and gave me a BIG hug, picked me up and said "HEY SHOVER" with this huge, comforting smile on his face. That last encounter we had together completely embodied Brad's character. He had such an uplifting spirit, and was such a talented human being...athletically, intellectually and spritually. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during these hard times. You were so blessed to have Brad as a son and brother. I will truly miss his friendship. I send my love to you all, and I miss you Brad!

To the wife and family of Brad... I wish to convey my condolences over his passing. I remember Brad as a converted quarterback, who took on defensive duties to be more physical. He was a kind man who always treated me with respect and helped further my work as a sports writer. The last time I talked to him was on the golf course and he was working with the local high school program. My prayers are with you.

Brad will be sorely missed. His smile lighted my morning and filled me with joy. It's hard to imagine him not physically being here on this earth, but I can picture him alive and full of adventure and laughter in heaven above. May you feel the comfort of the Lord come to you and bridge the distance you feel between his heart and yours.
Sincerely,
Rebecca

WOW!! This is very sad indeed and my thoughts and prayers go out to the Martin Family. They do not know me, nore does Brad, but I've had interaction with both.
I used to attend the same team FB camp (Golden State Wing-T camp) as Brad's team when I was in HS. He was a year older than me, but he always handled himself with class and was a great leader to all those he associated with.
I also met his parents at the 2001 BYU vs. UNLV FB game and they were the nicest people who were very proud of their son, as they should be.
I truly hope they are comforted by the thought that we are all a family that will be together again someday. In addition, to the thought that their son touched many peoples lives in many different ways.
