COLIN WALTON Obituary

Colin Reiago Walton, Jr. passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 21, 2014. He was deeply loved by many and will be sorely missed. He and his beloved spouse, Steven Robert Ehlers, had 18 wonderful years together and were married for six years, thanks to the Supreme Court of the United States. They loved each other dearly and were inseparable. With Colin the Master Gardener, they spent their weekends working outside in a yard that was a beautiful haven for everyone who visited. Colin, in particular, tended to the vegetable garden. They loved to travel together and toured several countries including Spain, France, Italy, and Greece. Whenever Colin walked into a room, people knew someone special had entered. Everyone who came in contact with him loved him. He had a great smile, a warm and endearing laugh and a beautiful spirit. Colin was born on February 21, 1961, in Miami, FL. He was a staff sergeant in the United States Air Force from 1985 to 1993, when he was honorably discharged. He graduated from Fresno City College and National University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in interdisciplinary studies. Colin was a data analyst for Community Hospitals of Fresno and loved his work. He is preceded in death by his father, Colin Reiago Walton; his mother, Muriel Alesthia Edgecomb; and his father-in-law, Robert Ehlers. He is survived by his spouse, Steve Ehlers; his sister, Pamela Edgecomb, of Miami, FL; mother-in-law, Mary Ehlers; brother-in-law, Brian Ehlers; niece Mallory; nephews, Jared and Justin; sister-in-law, Janet Kinney and her husband Richard; nephews, Nicolas and Anthony; his adopted family, Ben Boone, and Alice Daniel; nephews, Atticus and Noah-Asher Boone; and close friends, Ted Lucio and Edward Davidson. A Memorial Service will be held in Fresno at the First Congregational Church, 2131 N. Van Ness Blvd., on Sunday, November 30, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Glendale, CA. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Colin's honor to the UCCE Master Gardeners of Fresno County, 550 E. Colin was simply a joyful ray of sunshine to us. We have great memories of your home, your visit to our place in Oakhurst, and watching the two of you interact with the Daniel-Boone children. We can't help but smile when we think of those times. He was a beautiful man, and he adored you. What a gift for us to have known him!

I am so shocked and saddened to hear of Colin's passing. He was such a kind, wonderful person. We met through doll collecting and would often run into each other at the ATM machine at the old UMC hospital, so you know how long ago that was! Although we did not get together often, especially these past few years, It always felt like seeing my best friend when we did run into each other. I was just thinking about a silloutte picture he gave me years ago and what a thoughful person he is. He will be greatly missed and remembered forever. Good-bye my friend.

I've enjoyed Colin about 20y--his essence, humor, and spirit. . . just running into him on the sidewalk or a cafe--sharing a bit of life. . . or a witty chuckle like--See's is fine chocolate, we're even better! What a joy and smile when he introduced Steven to me. . . treasured memories will live on. Colin and Steven, my thoughts and spirit are with you, and those close to your hearts.

I met Colin at the National Barbie Doll Collectors Convention in New Orleans in 2013. He was with a mutual friend Jeffrey Best. A bunch of us went to Emeril ' s in NOLA and all had the best time. It did not take long to figure out that Colin was one of those really special people with a unique happy soul that was easy to love. I remember his electric smile, his dapper bow ties and style, his charm, and the fabulous way he made you feel that you have been his friend forever. But I think I will miss a truly kind hearted gentleman the most. I didn't know him long but will forever count him as a friend. Prayers sent to his spouse Steven and all his family and to Colin's and my friend Jeff Best. Prayers sent to you with deepest sympathies and regret for your loss.

Dearest Steve, no words can take away your pain, but please know how deeply sorry I am for the loss of your beloved Colin. I was honored to know him, if only for a little while. His love for you and for life was so evident to all who knew him. I'll miss his gentle demeanor, kind eyes, and bright smile. Although he's no longer here in the flesh, find comfort in knowing his spirit will live on.

Don't cry for me now that I have died.
For I'm still here, I'm by your side.
My body's gone but my soul is here.
Please don't shed another tear.
I am still here I'm all around.
Only my body lies in the ground.
I am the snowflake that kisses your nose.
I am the frost that nips your toes.
I am the sun bringing you light.
I am the star shinning so bright.
I am the rain refreshing the earth.
I am the laughter. I am the mirth.
I am the bird up in the sky.
I am the cloud that's drifting by.
I am the thoughts inside your head.
While I'm still there, I can't be dead.

Hi Steve, I don't believe that we every met. I worked with Colin at Community. Colin was always a joy to be around and we would have a blast laughing about things from the past, 80's and 90's mostly. I will miss seeing him in the lunch room. My prayers go out to you and your families. Colin will surely be missed by everyone who had the pleasure to know him.

Steve, although there is nothing I could say or do that would help you at this time, just know that my heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with you.
