October 28, 1931 - August 31, 2022
Fresno, California - Born in Memphis, Texas, Ed passed away at the age of 90 in Fresno, California, on August 31, 2022. He was widowed in 2021 by his wife, Sally Gregory, and is survived by his 3 children, Christie, Brad, and Leslie, his 15 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Coach Gregory received his BS degree from Pepperdine College in 1955 and his Master's degree from USC in 1958. During his tenure at Pepperdine, he received 6 letters between basketball and baseball. In 1954, he was selected as one of the 50 top players in the Western States. In baseball, he won All-Conference honors for 3 seasons.
Mr. Gregory had an accomplished career as a basketball coach and was hailed for his keen scouting abilities. He was head coach at UNLV from 1963-1965, then landed the head coaching position at Fresno State in 1965 until he resigned in 1977. Ed continued as a full-time professor at Fresno State, and began scouting for Portland (Trailblazers) on weekends and semester breaks. After about 3 years, he started scouting for the (Cleveland) Cavaliers. In 1986, he retired from Fresno State and followed head coach George Karl to Oakland, where he accepted the position of assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors. Coach Gregory worked for the Warrior organization for over a decade, eventually retiring as the Director of Scouting.

Only knowing coach from club 1 Casio for 6 months, I got to know him as a GOOD MAN and tuff card player !
