Fred Wittwer Obituary

FRED WITTWER Fred Wittwer, age 52, a lifelong resident of Chowchilla, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2004, at home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. A farmer for the majority of his short but full life, Fred had graduated from Chowchilla Union High School with the class of 1970, where he was active in Future Farmers of America, and earlier with 4-H activities. He also enjoyed sports, having played Little League and High School baseball. He was a former member of the Young Farmers organization, and was a member of the Y.M.I. (Young Mens Institute) of St. Columba's Catholic Church in Chowchilla. Fred is survived by his wife of 30 years, Rebecca "Becky" Flint Wittwer; and his mother, Raylene Wittwer; both of Chowchilla. He is the brother of Stephen Wittwer of Madera, Deborah Bailey of Chula Vista, Julie Kaiser of Lake Forest, CA, and Leslie Ross of Atwater. He was the beloved uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, and a friend to many. Visitation will be at St. Columba Catholic Church, on Sunday, March 21, 2004, beginning at 4:00 p.m., with the Recitation of the Rosary at 5:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Columba Catholic Church in Chowchilla, on Monday, March 22, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Chowchilla District Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to The American Cancer Society or to the donor's favorite charity. JAY CHAPEL In Madera since 1893(559) 674-8814 www.jaychapel.com
