George Jr. Briggs Obituary

George Andrew Briggs Jr., 85 years of age, was born on May 25, 1923, in Fresno, California to George Andrew Briggs Sr. and Molly Karle Briggs, both of German decent, born in Russia, peacefully predeceased his wife of nearly 49 years, Martha Helen Briggs, on January 9, 2009. Martha Helen Briggs, 86 years of age, born on January 21, 1923, in Fresno, California to Peter Scheidt and Katherine Nielmeir Scheidt, born in Russia and California respectively, peacefully joined George with our Heavenly Father on Monday, August 31, 2009. George was a retired postal worker and a florist earlier in his career. Martha was employed by Sees Candy for many years. They retired to their beloved California coast in Aptos and later Watsonville prior to returning to Fresno for the last several years. They enjoyed traveling and had been to Europe and toured every state in the Union with their motor home. Martha was a premier gardener, winning awards for the landscape of her yard. George was a devoted husband, by Martha's side, at all times. Their request of Neptune Society is to have their ashes spread on the San Francisco Bay joining Martha's daughter Kathleen. George and Martha had no children together but were predeceased by Martha's daughter Kathleen Torigian. They are survived by Martha's son, Dennis Nish Torigian; a grandson, Brian Torigian, and a niece and three nephews. A brief Memorial will be held on board ship in the bay in San Francisco. Those wishing to attend may call Dennis 559-846-8900. Please make any remembrances to the donor's favorite charity. NEPTUNE SOCIETY Of Central California 1154 W. Shaw Avenue Fresno (559)222-7764

George & Martha were our neighbors at Westlake Park. I enjoyed visiting with them. Martha was always outside attending to her plants and flowers. Our condolences to the family. She is with her beloved George and her heavenly Father in a beautiful garden that blooms forever.
May God bless them and God bless their family.
Love and deepest regrets,
Jim & Glenda Ewers

I worked the window with George at Cardwell Station Post Office. He was helpful to us rookies. My condolences to his family.
