GERALDINE "JERRY" PAUL obituary

GERALDINE PAUL Obituary

Jerry, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother died on Saturday, April 24, 2010, at 83 years of age. Jerry was born in Oakland, California on April 28, 1926, and grew up in Piedmont, Ca. She graduated from Piedmont High School. In 1948 she graduated from University of California, Berkeley with a degree in International Relations, receiving her diploma from then President Harry Truman. After meeting the love of her life, John Paul, at Cal Berkeley, on a blind date, they were married on January 29, 1949, and had 61 wonderful years together. Moving to Fresno after their marriage Jerry and John began a long and happy life together. Jerry's greatest accomplishment in life was raising four strong sons, some would say a task worth beatification! Additionally Jerry was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts, President of Holiday Guild, a member of Monday Study Club, Fresno Garden Club and Junior League of Fresno. Her hobbies included playing golf and tennis at Sunnyside Country Club. A dedicated Christian, Jerry regularly attended Saint James Episcopal Church. Her love of life and people and her strength of character were some of her endearing assets. She loved playing piano and singing songs and was the life of every party. She is predeceased by her son, Bruce Paul; her mother, Geraldine Mathews; her father, Jack Mathews; brother, Jack Mathews Jr.; and her sister, Elizabeth Mathews. Jerry is survived by her husband, John Paul; sons, John M. Paul, Gordon Paul, Jeff Paul; eight grandchildren; and three greatgrandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at Saint James Episcopal Church in Fresno on Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception at Sunnyside Country Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the California Armenian Home, 6720 E. Kings Canyon Rd., Fresno, Ca. 92727; or donor's favorite charity. To the Paul Familly - from Mary L. (Ruby) Munger - Images of Jerry and all of you are firmly fixed in my memories of Dowville Tract. Jerry's smile especially is easy to recall as is her kindness and positive attitude. The Ruby's were fortunate to know her, and we all were blessed with her laughter and love of life. My thoughts are with you, as I know that you will miss her even as you celebrate the joy and love that she gave to you.
