J. Abbott Obituary

J. Scott Abbott, age 53, former Fresno resident, died on Tuesday, October 14, 2008, after a long battle with Non-Hodgkins Lym-phoma. Scott was born in Fresno, California, on June 24, 1955. He was a grad-uate of Central Union High School and graduated from California State University, Fresno with a Bachelor of Arts in Business in 1977. Scott was a former part-ner in the Manco-Abbott Property Management firm in Fresno. After moving to Seattle, Washington in 1990, he held positions in real estate and property management at Lakeshore Management Corporation and Legacy Commercial. Scott was active at St. Columba Episcopal Church in Fresno and later joined the First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue, Wash-ington. He was a member of the Fresno Rotary Club and served as Pack Leader for Cub Scouts, coached his children's soccer teams and was an active booster of his son's high school wrestling program. Scott volunteered as a Stephen Minister and pursued a passion for photography. Scott had a profound joy of life, loved people, loved to laugh and enriched the lives of all those he met. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Pat LeBaron-Abbott of Bellevue, Wa.; parents, Bob and Pat Abbott of Castroville, Ca.; daughter, Jennifer Abbott of Boston, Ma.; son, Curtis Abbott of Los Gatos, Ca.; sister, Linda Bybee and her hus-band Don of Fresno, Ca.; brother, Craig Abbott and his wife Mary, Ocala, Fl.; uncle and aunt, Larry and Jeanette Abbott of Rose-ville, Ca.; aunt and uncle, Gail and Dennis Foraker of West Lynn, Or.; Great aunt, Margaret Theresa Ludwig of San Jose, Ca.; several beloved nieces and neph-ews and cousins; and former wife, Patty Nelson Abbott of Bellevue, Wa. A Memorial Service was held at First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue, Belle-vue, Washington on Sun-day, October 19, 2008. Remembrances may be made to Overlake Hospital Medical Center or to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Dearest Patty, Jen and Curtis. Our prayers and thoughts are with you at this time. I was so saddened to hear of Scott's passing. I never realised he was so ill. Please know that you all hold a very special place in my heart and I'm thinking of you. To Pat my condolences to you as well. Scott was a fine person and I still have so many wonderful memories of my time with him as his Rotary Daughter. Fondest love to you all. Tonya xxx

We first met because our families shared hosting Tonya, an exchange student from South Africa. Scott shall be remembered for being a fun loving rotarian of Figarden Rotary and a good friend. Good times and good memories.
