JAMES "Jim" YOUNG

Jim Young, a retired farmer of Kerman, CA, passed away at his home on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at the age of 87. Jim was born in Fresno, CA on October 22, 1931, to Claud and Anna (Diel) Young. The youngest of four children, he graduated from Fresno High School in 1949, and attended Fresno State College. He married Joyce Tinker of Nuevo on March 25, 1951. They recently celebrated 67 years of marriage. Jim was employed by Safeway in 1948, and managed several stores until he began his career with Continental Baking (Hostess). Thirteen years later he joined his brother-in-law, Maurice Barcus, in the farming business until he retired after 33 years. Jim was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and loved to support and be involved in the kid's endeavors. He set an amazing example as a follower of Christ and attended First Church of God in Fresno most of his adult life and was involved in various aspects of ministry. Jim was especially happy if he had a fishing pole and a good book. He and Joyce often enjoyed time in their RV at Bass Lake. They loved traveling with their kids which included trips to Mexico, several cruises, and European vacations. Jim and Joyce have been richly blessed by the love of their family and many incredible friendships. Jim will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his sons, Howard Young, and Stan Young. Jim is survived by his wife Joyce; and four of his children, Sandra Sanders and husband Daniel of Richland, WA, Douglas Young and wife Tauna of Union City, CA, Laura Young of Kerman, CA, and Randall Young and wife Beth of Rosenberg, TX; along with 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. A Funeral Service will be held held at First Church of God, 3920 N. First Street, Fresno, CA, on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be sent to First Church of God, Fresno, CA.
