Jesse Penner Obituary

Jesse Penner
August 26, 1982 - October 26, 2022
Clovis, California - Jesse Harold Penner was born on August 26, 1982 in Fresno, California. On October 26, 2022, at the young age of 40, Jesse was called to join his father in his heavenly home after a long struggle against brain cancer.
Jesse had a charismatic personality that lit up the room. With his bright blue eyes and warm smile, his inclusive nature made people feel comfortable and wanted. Jesse was at his best when, alongside his wife Allie, he guided, nurtured, and developed young people and married couples. While establishing a successful real estate career with his father, he graduated from Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary to further develop his pastoral heart. He served at Youth For Christ for 24 years starting as a student leader and finishing as a Board member. Jesse and Allie worked with high school students at The Well Community Church, led and participated in life groups and together cared for pre-foster children through Safe Families for Children. He thrived while leading caving trips and Sierra adventures. Jesse loved people well.
His greatest joy was leading and loving his family with a God-centered focus. He is survived by his wife and best friend who lovingly nursed him through his illness, Allison Penner and his children, Jedidiah Jesse (11) and Riley Renee (10). He is mourned by many including his mother, Margie Penner and siblings Christy Quaresma and her husband Aaron as well as Cherie Smittcamp, her husband Blake and their children Aubrey, Austin and Beckett. He was loved by Allie's parents Dr. Eric and Darlene Hanson and sister Lauren Hoover and her husband Donnie.
Jesse and Allie impacted many by sharing their cancer and faith journey while knowing the hope and reassurance of God's promises. You are invited to attend his life celebration on Friday, November 4 at The Well Community Church, 2044 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720
In lieu of flowers, Jesse requested donations be made to Youth For Christ at https://yfcnow.org/give/

I had the great pleasure of knowing Jesse as a student and as a servant in church and as leader in our Campus Life club at Buchanan High. Jesse made us laugh with his comical routines with his partner in crime, Mike Kelly. But he also had a minister“s heart as he served other students through the ministry. Though I was the club leader, Jesse ministered to me with his love, kindness, and leadership. I am missing you, my friend!

I had the opportunity to work on a couple real estate transactions with Jesse. One thing, that I always remember about Jesse, was his kindness and professionalism. We will miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
Rest in peace, Jesse.

My condolences to the whole Penner family. I didn't know Jesse but knew of Harold back when he was still with us and selling real estate. I know Jesse though the obituary, it sounds like I missed knowing a great human being. Thank you for sharing such a special person with us and the world. I hope, knowing that he is no longer suffering and he is now reunited with Harold in heaven, brings you some comfort. Lupe and I will keep the family in our prayers.

My heart breaks with Margie's and Jesse's beautiful wife and children. It is comforting to know that Jesse is fully healed now and reunited with Harold. However, we will miss his smile, his gentle and funny spirit and the laughter and love he brought to so many while he was here. Sending hugs and prayers for the whole Penner family.
