JOHN ALEGRIA Obituary

John R. Alegría went with the Angels peacefully in his sleep on Monday, July 9, 2012, surrounded by his wife and family, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was 92 years old. John was born in Esñoz, Spain. He graduated from Stockton High School in California and proceeded to graduate from the University of California, Berkeley in 1951. He worked at Standard Oil for a time then moved to Fresno where he married his life long love in 1952 and raised his family. He started his own Public Accounting Business for many years in Clovis and worked several years as a Realtor at Clovis Realty. John and Patricia retired to Vancouver, Wa. in 1993. John was a loving and loyal husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was a life long Catholic who always put his family first above all else. He enjoyed golf and was a board member at Belmont Country Club in Fresno. He also enjoyed his daily crossword puzzle, reading, and visiting the library. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. His final request was that he be remembered in your prayers and in happy times. He is survived by Patricia Charlotte Alegria, his beloved wife of 60 years; his two daughters, MaryAnn Alegría Joye and her husband William and Leigh Ann Alegría Pagano; grandchildren, Charlotte Kathryn Barney and John Lant Barney; his sister, Rose Marie "Toni" Schmidt; and nieces Judy Schmidt Mazzera and Joyce Schmidt.

Alegria family,
So sorry to hear of your loss. I have many fond memories of Mr. Alegria (as we called him) during my Jr. High and High School years. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
