November 14, 1948 - September 3, 2023
Fowler, California - Laurel Austin (née Boyd) passed away peacefully at the age of 74 on September 3, 2023. Laurel was born in Selma, CA to Margaret and Allan Boyd. She is survived by her only child, Chloe (Benjamin) and her two granddaughters, McKenna and Ellery. Laurel also leaves behind a tremendous, loving community of friends and family.
Laurel moved to the Bay Area in the late 70s where she worked for restaurateur, Pat Kuleto. She moved back to Kingsburg in 2003 where she remained until her move to The Harvest Assisted Living Facility in January 2023. She was happy to spend her final days at The Harvest, where she made valued relationships with the staff and was able to visit with her closest family members.
Laurel was friendly and welcoming, liked by all she would meet, and always had a smile on her face. Even after receiving her ALS diagnosis, she remained in good spirits and loved to joke and laugh. Her grandchildren will miss her long visits and playing treasure hunt.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent in Laurel's memory to the ALS Association.

I met Laurel several times when she lived in Corte Madera and found her to be a delightful, sweet amazing person. I'm just sorry I didn't get to spend more time with her as the years went on. My heart goes out to you, Chloe, and your two children. She will be missed!
