LLOYD JEFFRIES Obituary

Lloyd Clinton Jeffries passed away peacefully on Monday, October 8, 2018. He was born in 1927, in Fresno, CA, to Edith and John Jeffries, the oldest of four boys. He grew up on the family farm in Easton, CA, attending Washington Union High School. He was a star athlete in three sports, the student body president in his graduating class of 1945. W.U.H.S. played an important role in his life since it was on a double date that he met his wife of 69 years, Nancy Barbara Eyer of Easton. Soon after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served in Hawaii and Guam. Upon returning from the Navy in 1947, he married Nancy and two daughters followed. He was employed with Pacific Bell where he completed his 35 year long career retiring as 2nd Line Supervisor where he was often referred to as "Jeff." With Pac Bell, a few moves were made settling them in Pacific Grove, CA. This is where he embraced his lifetime love of fishing to include a commercial fishing license with his boat, The Nancy B., in the Monterey Bay waters. Lloyd and Nancy were avid Dixieland Jubilee followers. Attending popular jazz events from old Sacramento to Costa Mesa. In earlier years, they both enjoyed trips to the Santa Cruz Coconut Grove to dance and listing to the big bands. In 1988, they returned to Fresno. To the family Lloyd was known as quite a handyman builder and Mr. Fixit. Lloyd was preceded in death by Nancy, in 2016; his parents; and brothers, Don and Ken. He is survived by his brother Robert; his two daughters, Sandra Johnson and husband Dan, and Karen Jeffries Wheat and husband Matt; grandchildren, Todd Johnson and wife Michelle, and Taylor Wheat; great-grandchildren, Blake, Hailey and Drew Johnson; as well as his cat Knight. Throughout his adult life, Lloyd was an amateur Ham Radio Operator. This is W6RTV signing off. Keep a song in your heart. Adios, Au revoir, Auf Wiedersehen, Good Night.
